Description
AMERICAN STERLING SILVER SERVING ARTICLES, LOT OF TWO, comprising a 9 5/8" pie server, and a 9 3/4" serving spoon, each with gilt to blade or bowl, and "G" monogram; possibly designed by Alonzo Hebbard, New York, NY. Total weight: 5.52 ozt. Second half 19th century.
Excellent condition, some minimal bending.
Provenance: Property of the late Joann Bowen.
Catalogue Note: The attribution is based upon the design elements of these pieces which are strikingly similar to known Alonzo Hebbard designed articles. Alonzo Hebbard was listed as the designer on several silver patents, including some designs used by Tiffany & Co. and may have been related to Henry Hebbard, a New York silversmith that is credited with several designs for Tiffany & Co.
