Oversized Otryaskin Alexey Fedoskino Russian lacquer box. Decorated on all sides with scenes from a Russian peasant festival. A giant couple on the lid of the box holds a string of bubliks between them as they laugh and dance jovially surrounded by a plethora of people at different food stands, playing games and dancing. On three of the sides of the box there are various groups of people playing instruments smoking pipes and drinking, while on the back side of the box there is a still life of a blanket, bag, pipe and flask. The front has a key hole escutcheon decorated with a landscape and crescent moon. Signed and dated 1996 on lid exterior and interior. (Approx. 5" x 16" x 8 ¼"). From the estate of Eric Sinizer.
