General Catalog of Recorded Music by Duke Ellington, Signed by Luigi Sanfilippo. Many of Duke Ellington's contributions to not only music but culture in general were not appreciated or studied until after his death; however, there were several scholars that began to follow Duke's work closely in his lifetime. Luigi Sanfilippo, for example, began the tremendous undertaking of cataloging each of Ellington's published music pieces in the 1960s. This catalog, published in 1965, is a second edition, and features an inscription to Duke from Sanfilippo. The inscription reads, "A little gift to the great E. K. Ellington."
