One-sided flag constructed of red, white and blue wool fabric, treadle sewn with primitive hand cut stars. Preserved under glass in wood frame. A few minor areas of thread loss, fabric is faded, consistent with age. A note of provenance is affixed to the back of frame, which reads, "...This one sided flag was made by the Stanton family for their general store in Danville VT. It was displayed on the front porch of the store leading up to the July 4th Holiday..." The note reads further, "...Fred G. Stanton Age 21, Danville VT 15th Vermont Infantry, Enlisted 9-18-1862, Mustered in 10-122-1862, Mustered out 8-5-1863. Pvt Co B Born 1841, Died 2-20 1897, Buried Pope cemetery, Danville VT."
