American, 20th century. A collection of ephemera related to the renowned American author, Margaret Mitchell (American (Georgia), 1900-1949), known for her Pulitzer Prize winning novel Gone With the Wind (1936), later made into an Academy Award winning film of the same name (1939). Group comprising a portrait of Margaret Mitchell in articulating early 20th century frame; a first edition, later but still early printing, of Margaret Mitchell's famed novel "Gone With the Wind (Macmillan: NY, 1938); two copies of Margaret Mitchell and Her Novel" (Macmillan: NY, 1936), "a booklet compiled in response to a flood of requests from readers all over the country for information about the author and her book"; an original copy Book-of-the-Month Club News (American, founded 1926) from June, 1936 review of Gone With the Wind by Henry Seidel Canby (American, 1878-1961); an original newspaper copy of The New York Times (American (New York), founded 1851) Book Review from July 6, 1936 by J. Donalds Adams (America, 1891-1968); an original copy of The West Fulton High School's newspaper the West Fulton Owl, from November 10, 1939 with article honoring Miss Margaret Mitchell; a copy of Norman Berg's (American, 20th century) article "The Real Story of Gone With the Wind" for the Atlanta Constitution, dated November 29, 1936; and a group of ephemera related to the interview of Margaret Mitchell conducted by the noted journalist Medora Perkerson (American (Georgia), 1892-1960) including an original transcript of that interview, a matted, backed and glazed black and white photograph of Margaret Mitchell and Medora Perkerson, a loose black and white photo of Medora Perkerson at the train depot, a typed and hand signed letter from Medora Perkerson to her aunt Janie, and reprinted funeral program or printed eulogy. Largest item (matted and backed photograph) approximately 11" x 14".
