Description
Continental (likely Flemish or English), late 19th century. A pair of Renaissance Style stained and carved oak hall chairs each raised on four legs, the front two being straight and carved in high relief to front with flowers and acanthus leaves and joined by a relief carved stretcher, the back two being of raked form, surmounted by trapezoidal seat with edges bearing carved decoration, with scrolling and florette decorated shield form back splat pierced at center surrounding a grotesque mask. Approximate height 35.5", width 17.25", depth 17.5", seat depth 15.5", seat height 18.5". Provenance: The Elephant's Foot Antiques, Atlanta, Georgia, whereby acquired by a Private Collection, Atlanta, Georgia.
