Description
Flemish, Early 16th century, circa 1500. Medieval hand carved, polychrome and gilt figural sculpture in the round of a standing soldier saint with cap, long dark hair, facial hair, tunic with wide scalloped collar, buckled belt and armor on hips. Man missing object, likely sword or other weapon held in hands in front of torso. Overall approximate height 12.7". Provenance: Joanna Booth, 247 Kings Road, Chelsea, London whereby acquired by the Estate of Dr. Woody and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia in September 2004. Copy of invoice, gallery catalogue description and image, and letter of correspondence available upon request.
