Description
Flemish or English, Late 17th/Early 18th century. Oak wood figural devotional sculpture depicting a bearded man standing at full length with barefeet, carved in the round, portrayed in long robes with head tilted up and back with eyes closed and hands clasped together in prayer. Unmarked. Figure situated on later wooden oval plinth base. Overall approximate height 28.4". Provenance: A.R. Broomer, Manhattan Art & Antiques Center, New York whereby acquired by the Estate of Dr. Woody and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia, circa 1998. Note: Copy of original invoice available upon request.
