Description
Flemish, 16th century. An oak figural corbel carved in high relief in depiction of Saint Nicholas, patron saint of sailors, merchants, repentant thieves, and children, kneeling in prayer in profile in a woodland landscape with two animals on a cliff behind him and two more above him, the subject to an integral block with moulded top and back. Approximate height 12.25", width 8.75", depth 15.25".Provenance: From the Estate of Dr. Woody Cobbs and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
