American, probably New England, late 18th/early 19th century. Two American Windsor bow back or loop back chairs, both with seven spindle back, one in old black paint with shaped saddle seat, the other with shield shaped scooped seat both raised on turned and swelled turned legs united by an H-form stretcher. Approximate height of black painted chair 37", width 15.5" (seat), seat depth 14", seat height 17.5". Approximate height of other chair 36", width 14.5" (seat), seat depth 13.75", seat height 16". Provenance: From the Estate of Dr. Woody Cobbs and Mrs. Honor Cobbs, Atlanta, Georgia.
