A golden age Russian Impressionism painting by Gregory Andreevich Shponko. The painting depicts a profile view of a Russian Orthodox church. Dry docked row boats can be seen in the foreground.
Gregory Andreevich Shponko. 1926-2006
born in 1926 in the village of Balky, Zaporogsky region, Ukraine.
graduated from the painting department of Kiev Art Institute in 1954.
Studio of professor Trofimenko .
member of Union of Artists since 1954. Shponko's first serious
experience as an artist, was while restoration of Sevastopol panoramic
sight. Later he was working as a painter in Kiev Opera and Ballet
Theatre, under the leading of A.G. Petritsky. Gregory Andreevich
participated in many All-Ukrainian and All-Union exhibitions, his
works are placed in several museums
