Description
A choice Bucchero pesante Kyathos, c. 560 - 540 BC, the bowl beautiful decorated with raised petals and three human faces in relief. The tall handle, which is flanked by two low projections on the rim, surmounted by nipple, a raised ridge behind and a female face with flowing hair on the front bordered by incised lines which continue along the inside of the rim. The outside of the rim is adorned with an incised band containing triangles and the rim itself is adorned by three additional nipples and the vessel sits on a flared ring foot. H: 7 3/5 in (19.4cm).
