Description
An Early 19th Century Chinese Carved Wood Prayer Bar. Wood bar is carved on all four sides with indentations for use as a rice mold. Bar is similar in form to a Kuih Bangkit mold and bears an overal residue from age and use. End of bar is formed by a ring for wall hanging when not in use. Sides of bar are carved with 26 and 27 figures respectively. Top and bottom of bar are carved with 39 and 46 figures respectively. The consignor believes it is comparable to a similar example found in the British Museum Length: 22.5" x 2.5" x 1.5"
