Empire-Style Mahogany Armoire, 20th century, the domed and molded crest above an ormolu-applied frieze, over a case fitted with two doors, each inset with two quarter-veneered panels, above a single drawer, raised on bun feet, h. 83", w. 51-1/2", d. 24".

The armoire is in excellent structural condition with only a few minor losses. The interior of the top is fitted with only a metal hanging rod and no other fittings. The lower drawer works well. Two of the three vertical pilasters across the front have missing base blocks. There is a minor veneer chip at the top of the left door, but it is covered by the right door when it is closed. There is some missing brass-clad molding at the top left side, on the sides of the drawer and on the top edge of the left door, but there is a long piece of molding in the drawer (probably from a matching piece) more than adequate to make the repairs without having to make new molding.
