244 STRASSMANN FRITZ: (1902-1980) German Chemist who, with Otto Hahn, demonstrated the previously unknown phenomenon of nuclear fission in 1938. Autograph Statement Signed, F Strassmann, one page, 4to, Mainz, n.d. (annotated 9th July 1957). Strassmann writes his answers to three questions relating to Human Intelligence, in full, '1. I am not able to give a definite answer. 2. I don't believe it today. 3. I think it to be impossible in scientific field today, except [if] he is a man of special genius'. Signed at the conclusion. Neatly annotated at the head in an unidentified hand with the questions Strassmann answers including Is Human Intelligence a unity?, Is it possible for a man of genius to be as prominent in one discipline as in another? & Could a famous scientist who concentrates in a definite kind of research…apply his intelligence to any field he would choose, successfully?
