Early 19th Century 15 Jewel Pocket Watch by Joseph Johnson in Full 14k Yellow Gold Case.
Dial: Black Roman numerals on a white enamel face and with a sunken subsidiary dial for the second hand. Face lettered, JOS. JOHNSON 25 CHURCH STREET LIVERPOOL 19 JEWELS.
Case: Marked "B & MC" and numbered: 19674 with the impressed image of an eagle. One side engraved with the image of a town surrounded by flowers, "C" scrolls and scroll work, the other side with a central poesy of flowers and scroll work. Rose gold loop. both case and fob loop test 14k gold.Movement: Key Wind and Marked Fifteen jewel on face.
Joseph Johnson of Liverpool, England, was a highly respected and successful British master clock, watch and chronometer maker of the late 18th to early 19th centuries (Active 1795 - 1827). He is credited with inventing several design improvements to the pocket watch and watch movement.
