First edition in English of this important source document on the destruction of the Inca empire. Garcilaso de la Vega (1539-1616) was a chronicler and writer born in the Spanish Viceroyalty of Peru. De la Vega is recognized primarily for his histories about Inca history, culture, and society. His work was influential, well-received, and particularly notable as the first literature by an author born in the Americas to enter the western canon.
Condition
Frontispiece mounted, several large pieces lacking, title page trimmed and mounted, final leaf a bit browned; very good in a fine modern binding.
