Description
Beautiful three panel folding gilt screen from 19th century France has the original center mirror with unusual carvings in front. Either side flanked by the original hand colored lithographs under glass. Gilt hand carvings of lute and other musical instruments with floral above the panels. The bottom frame deeper with designs as well. Original silk gold fabric has iridescent designs in the floral vertical pattern. Outlined with gold gemp on all sides. The back is pleated in one inch pleats of soft yellow silk and outlined with yellow gemp. Very sturdy and good weight. Overall in extremely good condition. The mirror with bits of the silvering showing through from age which does not detract. The silk back is excellent,the front shows 2 small signs of wear on the center panel and very slight water spotting at the bottom above frame. The fabric in remarkable condition and would not replace-is not rotted. Tiny bits of gilt on the frame are worn as expected and shown. Measures 67.5 H X 1 D X 52 L.
