Long Island Railroad High Security Lock Key

Item Details

Description

An unusual and heavy high security lock from the 1970's. It is clearly marked Sargent & Greenleaf on one side. It also has LIRR stamped below that. The matching key is included but not tripping the lock. It seems like this model was a notorious "sticky" match and always had problems while in operations. This is called the "blue" key model for switch use. There were other colors for other special purposes. This mechanism features a British "Ingersoll" patent. The side of the lock is marked "S 7061" in very small lettering. I am not familiar with this design. The key does have a small 162 in a circle but no other markings.
