Description
A solid brass Canadian National Railway locomotive number plate. This plate measures about 16 5/8" by 11". It's heavy. It has 4 corner mounting holes and one more hole in the center. The brass surface shows lots of minor dings. The back has a cast "5" and then "45" further along on the same line.
My research shows that this locomotive was built in 1899 for the Canadian Northern Railway by Montreal Locomotive Works. It was one of 56 H-6-g classification units. The #1401 was a 4-6-0 "Ten Wheeler". It was MLW boiler construction #52596 built in 1913 and it was scrapped in March of 1960. It carried the number 1401 on both the Canadian Northern Railway and on the Canadian National Railway.
We have had a few requests on shipping this plate. It weighs in at 20 pounds without any packaging. We will ship to Canada. All heavy, hard to ship items will be processed last in the shipping queue. All shipped items must be insured and we fill out the customs forms with an accurate sale price.
