FRENCH PHONOGRAPHE BEBE BY JUMEAU WITH ORIGINAL COSTUME, SHOES, AND BOX. 24”. Marks: 1907 Tete Jumeau 11 Bisque socket head, blue paperweight eyes, painted lashes, brushstroked and feathered brows, pierced ears, open mouth, shaded and accented lips, original blonde mohair wig over cork pate, phonograph clockwork mechanism in torso that operates from brass key at back torso, tin plate at front torso, Petit Papa recording disc inside, wears original ivory and maroon velvet dot dress with maroon silk ribbons, original shoes incised with bee symbol, depose Paris 11, in original box marked “Bebe Jumeau Phonographe”. Commentary: Circa 1893 bebe produced in collaboration with Henri Lioret, inventor of the musical mechanism, beautifully preserved in original costuming including flap-front dress, fine quality bisque and decoration, original body finish with some flaking of finish, music on disc unclear.
