Mughal Jewelry
The jewels of the Mughal period have a distinctive character by their particularly Kundan technique, a specific Indian art setting for precious stones. So the gemstones are embedded in thin gold leaf and bowls, boxes as well as jewelry were made into beautiful treasures. Also beads had at this time a very special place in the treasuries of the Maharajas. They count as the most popular jewels among all of the treasures and were only reserved for wealthy families. Individual beads were partly collected over several generations, forwarded and then processed into special piece of jewelry. (lvp)
It has been common and accepted practice for hundreds of years to enhance color and clarity of colored gemstones by the use of different treatments. Only if such a treatment can unequivocally be excluded the gemstones are stated as “untreated”. (Not applicable to diamonds)
All gemstones were examined by us in mounted condition using different gemological devices. If there is a certificate or an external gemological report available it is stated in the description.
