Bio: Born in Ohio, Anna Althea Hills was a prominent California landscape painter famous for her atmospheric, impressionistic landscapes showing a reverence and appreciation for nature. Hills was also known for her community activism. She was involved with the Presbyterian Church and ran the Sunday school. As president of the Laguna Beach Art Association, it was Hill’s strong advocacy that lead to the founding of the Laguna Beach Art Museum in 1921.
