[Manuscript/Alaska Gold Rush] Minute book maintained for the directors of the Alaskan Transportation, Trading, Mining and Manufacturing Company over a 2-month period during Klondike gold rush. Includes handwritten transcription of the “Agreement and Power of Attorney given to Wm. & P. Arms, Jr.” (pp3-4), “Copy of Application for Charter (pp5-6), and “Minutes of October 18th, 1897…" [to] "…January 18th, 1898" (pp7-35). Signatures at the end of any given meeting’s minutes are usually either H. Kay Messick or Frank H. Bates (the Secretary). Meeting of Nov. 3 includes lists expenses associated with organizing the corporation. Nov. 30, 1897 includes the company’s bylaws. Folio. Partly disbound, lacking the first leaf and covers. Dampstained. Lower portion of first several leaves chipped with loss of text. Minor tears to text of other leaves. P 3 has company’s name underlined in red by a modern owner. Sold with all faults.
