[Land Transactions] 2 Indentures. Vellum. ++ “This Indenture of five Parts…” for a deal involving Barnard Clarkson, Henry Vavasour, and Mildred Bourchier. The land was the Manor of Melbourn with Storthwaite (now Storwood). Docketing on verso of 1st leaf mentions “hereditaments at Melbourn in Yorkshire.” April 7, 1793. Last leaf mentions a principal of 10,000 pounds at an initial interest rate of 5%, payable Oct. 5, declining to 4 pounds, 10 shillings per hundred pounds. Last leaf also mentions a sum of 2000 pounds. Docketing on verso also mentions a payment by Henry Vavasour of 6839 pounds. Signed by Barnard Clarkson, Deborah Clarkson, Anthony Forster, Henry Vavasour, and Mildred Bourchier. [7] single sided leaves. Revenue stamp in margin of each leaf. About 24 ½ x 30 ½ in. Folded: 8 ½ x 10 ½ in. Expected spotting, very good. ++ Mortgage. “This Indenture… Between The Wool Exchange Limited (hereinafter called the Mortgagers”) of the one part and Robert Barclay of Lombard Street in the City of London Banker Frederick William Harris of Greenchurch Street in the said City Merchant William Middleton Campbell of Rood Lane in the said City Merchant and Jeremiah Colman of Cannon Street in the said City Merchant the Life Trustees of the Commercial Union Assurance Company Limited (hereinafter called the Mortgagees)…” Mar. 5, 1892. Text mentions 5 pounds and 4 pounds, 10 shillings interest per 100 pounds. [2] single-sided leaves. Docketed on verso. Revenue stamp.
