Description
Asia Minor, ca. 3200 to 2300 BCE. Remarkable marble idol in the form referred to as a "violin" idol. Contemporary with the more famous and definitely more expensive Cycladic idol, probably used as a fertility idol or grave offering. Wide lower body with indication of arms, long thin neck and rounded head. A very small number of these have even been found with original pigmentations. Custom base. Size: 4" H (10.2 cm)
