After Qi Baishi (Chinese, 1864-1957). "Shrimp", ink on paper, inscribed with many red seal marks throughout. A hanging scroll painting depicting three large shrimp or prawns with elongated front legs and antennae set below a vertical fishing pole with hanging string falling among them in surrounding water with a line of black calligraphy at upper left and three large red seal marks to left and right of scene, the scene flanked to left and right by separate tall sheets of paper bearing long lines of black calligraphic marks (at left also with a red seal mark), and also topped by a fourth sheet of paper bearing eleven lines of calligraphy set within a red lined box with a red seal mark to lower left, the sheets all encapsulated by a cream silk surround on a stained wood roller. Note: alternate spelling of artist's name: Baishi Qi. Overall approximate length 78.5", width 23".
