TWO INDONESIAN TRIBAL PAINTED AND CARVED WOOD FEAST BOWLS, ASMAT PEOPLES, PAPUA NEW GUINEA, 1970'S, one of flat oval shape and centering earthen red scrolling details on a whitewashed body enclosed by geometric patterned sides in shallow relief, surmounted by a traditional ancestral bust, length: 24 3/8", width: 9 1/4"; one of elliptical form and enclosing stylized earthen red painted details in shallow relief and surmounted by a traditional ancestral bust, length: 21", width: 6 1/4". Provenance: These feast bowls were purchased during the Seldens' 1973 travels to Indonesia and region.
