I., LONDON: Printed for JOHN and PAUL KNAPTON, at the Crown in Ludgate-Street, M DCC XLIII." easily read and understood with chronological layout supported by fairly clear text and footnoted details throughout, with additional support maps, portraits, and monument images, all nicely engraved, 1743, height: 3", width: 10", length" 15 1/2".
Condition
Both Volumes have later bright red leather spines centering a rectangular gilt tooled leather, "RAPIN'S HIST: OF ENGLAND," probably removed from original spine, Vol. I brown leather wrapped board is torn in two places, corners are soft on each and lightly discolored, Vol. II has two tears towards bottom of leather wrapped board, each has light foxing throughout each volume but very light, some discolorations from liquid, surface dust buildup, Vol, I has good portrait frontespiece plate of Mr. Rapin, the first map of Brittania Romanas has light creases throughout and a small tear towards lower section, Vol. II frontespiece depicts Mr. Tindal, each volume has some light, very marginal foxing throughout, Vol. II,, p. 618, plate of Charles II is torn lower right, p. 55 has border torn off in mid section right but does not affect text, Edward VI p. 4 has two edge tears but well beyond text areas, the next page has a taped tear mid part of page but does not include text areas, Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
