[Title in Greek] Novi testamenti omnia. Basel: Thomas Platter, March 1538. 6" x 3.75. [2, of 8], 382 leaves, wanting 6 leaves of preface though with title and blank present. Title with woodcuts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Early full vellum over boards with title on label in gilt, vellum with usual soiling, boards bowed. Title shaved, toned, and laid down, one leaf with chip and old repair removing several letters, early ink notations on approx. a dozen leaves, else quite clean and Very Good. ***************** Cesar De Missy's copy with his ink inscription to title (inner margin.) De Missy (1703-1775) was chaplain to King George III and a scholar of the New Testament. This is Platter's first edition of the Greek New Testament, and his second edition followed two years later.
