A pair of Famille Jaune porcelain jardinieres with underplates, each with hand painted polychrome enamel scene on imperial yellow ground on tondo to body depicting figures farming, practicing sword fighting, and soldiers riding on the backs of mythical beasts, the figures to a mountainous landscape with band of lappets to foot and band of leiwen or meandering key to exterior cavetto of flaring rim, the rim interior with a band of gilt starbursts or stylized flowers to a yellow ground, the underplates with matching gilt starburst bands to flared rims. Each main vessel drilled to underside for drainage. Overall approximate height 9.5", diameter of vessel 10.875", diameter of saucer 10.375".
