Comments: Comment from Prof. Lazar's widow: "I think Chagall wrote this note to Moshe when Moshe did an exhibition of Chagall's work at Tel Aviv University when he was Dean of the Faculty of Visual and Performing Arts. I think the note relates to that. Chagall usually wrote in Yiddish "
Three additional photos have been added showing the work out of the frame. It is clearly a two color drawing (black and gray/brown inks) on lined paper measuring approximately 8 by 5 in. (20 x 12.6 cm.) tipped at the corners onto card stock on which the note was written as well.,
Provenance: From the estate of Moshe Lazar, professor of Drama and Comparative Literature, USC; founder and Dean of School of Visual and Peerforming Arts, Tel Aviv University; Andrew W. Mellon Professor of Hunanities, U.S.C. with many honorary degrees and awards. He was a personal friend of Marc Chagall and Samuel Beckett and served as a translator for their literary works. In generally good condition, the paper slightly toned from age. The writing in the note possibly somewhat faded but completely legible.,
