Ringo Starr Painting by Peter Max (1999). Peter Max's work had a major influence on the 1960s counter-culture movement and the artists who fueled it. It is said that Peter Max worked on the Beatles animated feature film Yellow Submarine; whether or not that's true has been disputed, but the look of the film was obviously inspired by his art. Using bright and vibrant colors to portray popular figures throughout Pop culture, Max's work is still relevant and sought after today. Max created this mixed-media portrait on canvas of his friend Ringo, and signed the back "for/David/Love/Peter Max/1999". "Max/99" is also painted on the front in the top left corner. The image area is 19.5" x 23.5" framed (without glass) to an overall size of 21" x 25.25" x 2". There are a few stray nicks to the frame, but overall the condition is Excellent.
