Description
A Chinese Yixing Mushroom and Nut Pottery Teapot, 19th Century. This whimsical Yixing teapot is covered with carved nuts, a carved mushroom, and a carved lotus root. The carved mushroom is inverted and acts as the cover, the carved lotus root forms the spout, and the carved water chestnut forms the handle. The feet are also carved nuts. One of the feet is a carved lotus with seeds. The intricately carved seeds move within the lotus. It is approximately 4 1/2 inches high by 6 3/4 inches wide. Condition: The interior rim of the cover is chipped. Otherwise, it is in good condition. Provenance: From an upstate New York estate.
