1999 Gibson Super 400C with McCarty pickup, from the Collection of the late Robert Yelin. Serial#: 91379901. This rare Super 400C reissue features a floating McCarty pickup. Ted McCarty, who was Gibson's vice president at the time and later became the company's president, designed this pickup in 1948 to amplify an archtop guitar without compromising its natural acoustic tone. The pickup, volume and tone controls are ingeniously mounted into the floating pickguard.
