Description
Late Period, 664-332 BC. A carved agate pendant with loop to the reverse formed as a crouching figure in tripartite wig, beaded collar and uraeus; the hieroglyphic character for 'king' (nsw) or 'majesty' (akhm). Property of a London gentleman; acquired by his father in the 1970s; thence by descent. Cf. Wallis Budge, E.A. Egyptian Language, London, 1966, p.49, character 114. 0.93 grams, 16mm (3/4").
