Description
AMERICAN CUT GLASS COMPOTE, colorless lead glass, wide hemispherical bowl featuring shield-form reserves encircling the shoulder, cut with alternating designs of a pair of narrow pointed leaves centering a fan, and a plain drape with tiny diamonds above and below, conforming rim, raised on a short button-knop stem and thick ray-cut foot. Possibly Bakewell, Page & Bakewell, Pittsburgh. First half 19th century. 6 1/2" H, 9 7/8" D rim, 5" D foot.
