Art Deco Buckle bracelet with Diamonds and Sapphires, c. 1920s.
The finely made box link bracelet mounted with thirty-eight diamonds (est. 1.75 carats, 2mm x 2mm each) bordered by seventy faceted blue sapphires, safety clasp and chain, Total Weight: 19.55g, 12.57dwt. Unmarked but tested platinum.
PROVENANCE: From a prominent musical family. This piece was made for our consignor's Grandmother, whose grandfather, George O'Brien was a captain in the Philadelphia Police Force.
It was inherited by their son, the Music Hall of Fame inductee, Chris Griffin, a professional trumpet player with CBS television network in New York City and who also led the trumpet section of Harry James and Ziggy Elman with the Benny Goodman Band. He was heard by millions playing in the orchestra on the Ed Sullivan, Jackie Gleason Shows.The bracelet was presented as a gift to his wife, Helen O'Brien-Griffin, a singer with Joe Haymes and the Tommy Dorsey band.
