Description
Abstract Oil on Board by listed French Artist Paul Daviaud (French 1910-2001). Signed by the artist, painted in shades of gray, sage,orange and blues. Professionally framed in Paris, in a gilt wood frame. PROVENANCE: A Paris, France and Charleston, SC Private Collection. Paul Daviaud was born February 27, 1910 in Viarmes where his family had lived since 1830. He entered the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris in 1931 and then he worked at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere. He won many competions and shows including the Prix Jean Peccard Jonas and a gold medal in the Salon of French artists. In 1944 he was awarded a grand prize of Rome for engraving intaglio. He stayed at the Villa Medici from 1944-1948. In 1957 he married the French Painter and Ceramist, Francine Quersin. He died in 2001 in Viarmes. Board 12x8.75. In Frame 18x14.25.
