French, circa 1890, Swimming Turtle mystery clock, green marble, brass, pewter, ceramic, 11"w x 10 1/2"d x 5"h, Provenance: Richard Price & Associates, Antiquarian Horologists, Bourton, Dorset, England, 16 November 1999
Condition
In overall good condition. Marble intact. Beaded border slightly loose, missing nails in places. Turtle primarily intact. With some overpainting. Pewter plate with heavy surface scratching in places. Areas of discoloration throughout. Winding mechanism beneath pewter takes a wind. When filled with water, appears to run. Works appear to be marked Chartier / Paris. It is also numbered 2370. Movement appears to be original.
