Movado was founded in 1881 by a young entrepreneur, Achilles Ditesheim. Ditesheim’s watches quickly became very popular and many classics were created in the over 130 years of history. In 1947, the artist Nathan George Horwitt gave birth to the design for which Movado is recognized today: A solitary dot at the 12 o’clock mark, symbolizing the sun at high noon.
