Description
This is one of the true Lionel postwar rarities. According to the reference books, these were test stamped shells that were sold off as production pieces in the Pittsburgh area in 1949. There was reputed to be only 12 examples released and sold as production pieces. The three known boxed examples we have tracked down, all have the same 1949 3-city box with hand written $5.00 price with underscore. This example is like new with nice satin patina. Box is taped and shop worn, but original to piece, C9 body. WOW!!
