Monumental American Rococo Revival Giltwood Pier Mirror, mid-19th century, with a complex bolection surround and an arched crest, the mirror decorated with pierced scrollwork flanking the sides at the base, the crest decorated with an unusual fan of molded leaves and scrollwork, h. 113", w. 60", now on an architectural base after a design by Minard, h. 16", w. 62", d. 9".

In "as found" condition. There are chips and losses to the gesso around the edges of the crest and a larger loss at the left edge of the crest. Flaking and wear to the gilded surface from age. Small losses to the gesso along the bottom edge as well. Some shrinkage to the crest with minor open cracks. The gilding appears original with no touch-ups. Appears to retain its original plate glass mirror. Weight is approx. 30 lbs. The base is a later fabrication.
