Map of Taos showing troop dispositions, etc. In January 1847 a Mexican uprising in Taos resulted in the death of Gov. C. Bent and others. A force under Col. Sterling Price marched from Santa Fe, routed the rebels at La Canada, El Embudo and Taos, ultimately capturing most of them. Later skirmishes took place at La Cuesta, Las Vegas and Cienega near Taos.
