Bruno Zupan (1939-), Yugoslavian-American artist, oil on canvas with gold leaf painting entitled "Venetian Houses," circa 1994. Depicts Venice cityscape with canal. Signed upper left, Zupan. Housed in gold-tone and bronze finish frame. Zupan was born in Slovenia and immigrated to Paris in 1962 where he met his future wife Jane Ritchie of Columbus, Georgia. He has been honored with over 150 one-man-shows in museums and galleries in the United States, Europe, and Japan, and has published fify limited edition graphic works in Paris and Mallorca. In 1976, he was awarded life membership in teh Society of French Artists, and in 1981 and 1991, received special commissions to create First Day Covers for the World Federation of United Nations Associations Philatelic Program. He prefers to paint en plein air and his locations of choice are Mallorca, Venice, and Paris. He and his wife have published two books: "Bruno Zupan, One Artist" and "Bruno Zupan, Graphic Work." This painting was purchased in 2004 from Left Bank Art Gallery, St. Simons Island, Georgia.
