Description

Elliott Brothers (English (London), founded circa 1804. A "Dumpy Level" telescope circa 1854-1916 constructed with a lower central stand with four adjusting knobs for altering position, surmounted by a horizontal thick telescope with glass bubble level to top. Accompanied with original wooden fitted box. Marked to side "Elliott Bros London". When mounted approximate height 4.5", width 11", depth 3". Note: an example of this model telescope resides in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Natural Museum of American History, Washington D. C.
