Many works of Francisco Toledo (born in 1940) show an interest in the Zapotec culture – Toledo’s roots - and the mythology of pre-Columbian people. In his compositions, he combines natural shapes with metaphors of art and literature. They often feature mixed beings from animals and humans - a phenomenon that has been interpreted by art critics as an expression of pre-Columbian beliefs, insofar that every human destiny is connected to an Aztec spirit in animal form.

Condition:

The sheet is in very good condition, showing a slight discoloration and corrugation of the paper. The frame shows small losses. The sheet dimensions are 24.5 x 31.2 cm, while frame measures 51 x 61 cm.
