Description
A garnet and seed pearl demi-parure. The necklace designed as an oval and pear-shape garnet cluster with seed pearl accents, suspended from a snake-link chain, together with matching ear pendants. Length of pendant 6.4cms. Length of chain 40cms. Length of ear pendants 5cms. Total weight 39gms. With fitted case. This demi-parure once belonged to Alice Keppel, King Edward VII's favourite mistress and a relative of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. Born Alice Frederica Edmonstone, Alice was the youngest daughter of Sir William Edmonstone of Duntreath.
Condition
Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear. Garnets well matched with medium body colour, fairly well saturated, with moderate clarity and typical inclusions. Minor blisters to seed pearls but they are well matched. Earrings with hook back fittings for pierced ears. Stones in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges.
