Description
Diminutive French Empire secretaire abattant or bureau in the Empire style with figured mahogany veneers. Marble top with white and grey veining, heavy ogee molding with a fitted drawer, fall front writing board over two doors, bracket feet. Fall front opens to reveal an upper open well flanked by two shaped columns over a bank of multiple dovetailed drawers. Lower two doors open to reveal three dovetailed linen drawers. Retains original keys. 56 1/2"H x 38"W x 17". Second half of the 19th century. Provenance: Estate of Bill Zarnon, Gatlinburg, Tenn. Condition
Overall very good condition with marble top having repair where broken in two pieces, minor veneer repair and shrinkage, rear right foot with later blocking.
