Detailed analysis: Upper left quadrant: 1 1/8” loss to a heavy-impasto vertical black paint stroke. Upper right quadrant: 1 ¼” loss to a heavy-impasto black brush stroke. 1 ¾” vertical area of tenting with minor loss to brown/tan vertical brush stroke. Extreme corner tenting with small losses. Lower left quadrant: tenting and flaking with minor areas of loss. Lower right quadrant: Few areas of heavy impasto with tenting. Overall, good condition, commensurate with age and technique. From a conservation perspective, the work is remarkably intact, given the unorthodox use of oil paint in this thickness. In certain areas, paint is applied in thicknesses approaching ½” in depth.
